Creative Climate Charter

Published on:
November 13, 2023

The Creative Climate Charter, endorsed by industry members of the Creative Industries Council in November 2023, outlines how the sector can use its “collective imagination, economic influence and leadership” to reduce its environmental impact and find “practical and scalable” solutions to tackling the climate crisis.

To meet the aims of this Charter, leaders of creative industries organisations will commit to eight principles including setting measurable ambitious targets to reduce environmental impact, using storytelling and inspiring narratives to engage audiences and drive positive change, and prioritising environmental training, tools and learning for the creative workforce.

The Sector Vision for the creative industries agreed between industry and government earlier in 2023, included an objective for the creative industries to play a growing role in tackling environmental challenges, and the Creative Climate Charter is part of meeting that goal.
