uk SIGNS DEAL WITH iNDIA tv BODY
UK television and entertainment industry body Pact has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Producers Guild of India in Mumbai.
The MoU is intended to spur collaboration and sharing of best practice, projects and ideas between content producers in both countries. It was announced at the first India-UK Createch Summit.
Last year India was one of the leading export markets for the UK TV production sector with more than 40 per cent growth. It is one of the UK Government’s priority territories.
As part of the MoU, the Producers Guild of India will join the Global Creative Aliiance and will become the Indian partner for the Production Platform, an online platform where companies can find or post projects if they are seeking a co-production partner.
The platform was launched in October 2017, with funding from the Department for International Trade, and has already attracted 13 countries with 25 countries set to be on board by summer 2018.
Pact’s Director of International Development, Dawn McCarthy-Simpson MBE, said:
“The MoU with the Producers Guild of India is a great move towards a more collaborative relationship with the Indian TV production sector. The addition of the Producers Guild of India will allow both Indian and UK producers to begin to access co-production ideas and projects through the Production Platform which will hopefully lead to future successful collaborations.”
