London Fashion Week (LFW) February 2023 was dedicated to the legacy of the late Vivienne Westwood, which defined punk and drove positive change globally. The event also hosted Ukrainian Fashion Week.

Running from Friday 17th to Tuesday 21st February 2023, as a digital physical hybrid, the event comprised a line-up of 127 brands, with 104 physical activations and 41 digital activations.

Designer highlights this season included: Daniel Lee’s debut as creative director of iconic British luxury brand Burberry and Moncler Genius’ public-facing show at Olympia to showcase the power of the brand's collaborations, featuring Alicia Keys, Pharrell Williams and Rick Owens. Other highlights included Christopher Kane, ERDEM, JW Anderson, Molly Goddard, ROKSANDA, Emilia Wickstead and Simone Rocha.

The BFC NEWGEN designers on schedule included Ahluwalia, ANCUȚA SARCA, ASAI, Chet Lo, Conner Ives, DI PETSA, EFTYCHIA, FEBEN, HARRI, HELEN KIRKUM, LABRUM London, Leo Carlton, Nensi Dojaka, Paolo Carzana, ROBYN LYNCH, ROKER, S.S.DALEY, SAUL NASH, Sinéad O'Dwyer and yuhan wang.

Additional BFC initiative designers to highlight included Completedworks, Richard Quinn & TOVE.

New names on schedule were Noon By Noor, Sinead Gorey, Talia Byre, TOVE, and PERTED’EGO.

The DiscoveryLAB continued in a digital format, with the aim of supporting emerging designers who do not yet meet the main schedule criteria. There were 12 designers activating as part of the digital DiscoveryLAB this season. They included Alec Bizby, DENIS HOWLHITA, DERRICK, LAURA PITHARAS, RUIRUI DENG, siyun huang, Sól Hansdóttir, YYAtomic, AN OCEAN of IDEAS (AOI), Johannes Warnke, ROSEOCEAN and Xu Zhang.

As part of the ‘Support Ukrainian Fashion’ initiative, LFW and Ukrainian Fashion Week presented three Ukrainian designers; FROLOV, KSENIASCHNAIDER and PASKAL at the BFC NEWGEN space.  The collections, which were created under the conditions of war, provided evidence of the courage, resilience and resistance of Ukrainian designers.

The BFC NEWGEN Show Space was located at The Old Selfridges Hotel, 400 Oxford Street, thanks to the very generous support of Selfridges who share the BFC’s commitment to supporting emerging designers. TikTok continued to support the initiative as its Official Partner. The BFC supported the designers with a dedicated sales campaign to buyers.

The City Wide Celebration returned with a full programme of events and activations open to the public over LFW. The programme consisted of parties, new collection previews, intimate designer Q&As, exclusive fashion week menus, promotions, complimentary gifts and workshops from over 450 brands across London.

The year-long celebration of NEWGEN 30 kicked off at LFW February 2023 and provided an opportunity for the creative community to celebrate and acknowledge the scheme’s illustrious history and alumni, and London’s legacy in nurturing emerging talent and the next generation of visionary creatives.

The generosity and commitment of LFW's partners, suppliers and supporters is more vital than ever. Official Partners were Diet Coke, The Londoner and TONI&GUY. Official Suppliers were Fora and Getty Images.
