Applicants have until 13:00 GMT on April 30 to apply for TalentLab XR which begins online on May 17th.

TalentLab XR is an online mentoring programme to help diverse voices break into Extended Reality (XR) story-telling. The initiative is backed by the Culture Recovery Fund.

The organisers say that demand for XR is on the rise, yet barriers-to-entry remain for Black, Asian and multi-ethnic creatives. The Lab will provide support to these creatives, helping them turn their ideas into realities.

Applicants do not need any prior training in XR – the programme organisers are looking for creativity and ingenuity over technical knowhow.

The schedule is:

  • Week 1 (Development week): You’ll get hands-on training and a VR headset to help you establish your creative, virtual world.
  • Weeks 2-4 (Mentoring weeks): You’ll be matched with an industry mentor who will help you to flesh out your idea over a series of 1:1 sessions.
  • End of week 4 (Pitching session): The chance to pitch your project. The organisers will select up to 12 projects for further development, which will each receive a development commission of up to £1000 plus development support from B3 Media.
  • After the programme:  Attendees will be invited to present their project to funders at the annual B3 Futures industry showcase.

Apply by 13:00 GMT on April 30, 2021.
